|i bought a new construction home where centipede sod was installed (in order for the home to be complete) but it was not watered or taken care of before i moved in. the grass does not seem to be growing and there are dark spots with no grass at all. is it a disease? does it just need fertilizer? i had more sod installed after i moved in and i watered it regularly and it is so lush!!!

|Sounds like the builder-installed sod was neglected but you should be able to rejuvenate it with copious amounts of water and a dose of time release fertilizer. Sod has an advantage in that the root system is mature and should have reserves enough to develop green top growth once you begin watering regularly. The dark spots are from drought stress and with any luck they will green up again with your TLC. If not you can dig them out and take plugs from a healthy part of your lawn to help fill in the bare spots. I'd wait to do this when the weather cools down this fall. Best wishes with your new landscape.
