It's not at all unusual for the oldest leaves to yellow and then die. As long as your cucumber plant is putting out healthy new growth and is flowering and setting fruit, it's healthy. Don't be too concerned about the older leaves. If the newer leaves are dying off, there may be a virus, a fungal disease or it might be a sign of overwatering. Wish I could be more specific, but without the opportunity to examine the plant, it's difficult to positively diagnose the problem.
