Your laurel can be pruned in early spring, just as new growth begins. Just prune lightly and it will fill out and look attractive. Weigela should be pruned when it has finished flowering. These shrubs can take any amount of pruning. You can remove up to one third of the growth without harming your shrub. Crepe myrtle blooms on the new growth of the season. Prune it after it has finished flowering and it should flower a second time for you later in the summer. You can feed with a general purpose 10-10-10 fertilizer each spring, in amounts as recommended on the fertilizer label. Enjoy your garden!
