The most common hosta pests are slugs and snails. They hide during the day and feed at night. You can go out at night with a flashlight and pick them off your plants or you can broadcast a bait around your plants to help control them. The iron based Sluggo is really effective in controlling slugs and snails. Be sure to apply according to label directions.
