Roses - Knowledgebase Question

June 30, 2010
I purchased two rose plants and they are just sitting in the pots doing nothing. What do I do to start some buds growing and can you recommend a good book for beginners of roses gardening?

If you're a novice with roses, one of the best books to consult is Roses for Dummies by the Editors of the National Gardening Association. It starts with the basics and by the time you've finished reading it you'll feel like a pro. You can find a copy in your local bookstore or you may even find it in your local library. In general, roses need 8 hours of sunshine a day, ample water and feeding with a rose food about every 6 weeks. I'm sure the book will provide all the information you need. Best wishes with your new roses.
