When after the growing season is it safe or ok to separate lily bulbs? I have some lilies but would like to see if more would grow if I separate the bulbs and thus have more bulbs to plant/replant for next year.

The best time to dig and divide lilies is in the fall after the stems and foliage die down. If you disturb them now, the tops will die and the bulbs won't be able to store energy for next years' floral display. Wait until they go dormant this fall, then dig and divide your lilies.
