i purchased / planted sod from HD about 6 weeks ago. it is watered twice a day by irrigation - and its doing great! is there anything i should be doing besides watering it to make sure it 'takes' and will come back next year? basically, is taking care of new sod different than regular grass?

There's no difference in the care your new sods needs - it's just like any other lawn, but it has the advantage of having a mature root system. Watering regularly is important; feeding this fall will help it remain healthy all winter and green up quickly next spring. Use a winterizer type fertilizer in the fall. In the meantime, enjoy your new turf!
