Raspberry/blackberry infestation - Knowledgebase Question

Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca

I have both raspberries and blackberries bearing fruit now but have some type of larvae infecting the harvest. My internet search has suggested the cause is a fruit fly which has invaded Southern Ca. The berries look fine from the outside but are soft and infested with larvae. Any cure that you know of? Thank you for any assistance.

There's not much you can do for this year's crop other than to pick the raspberry fruitworms. Next spring apply permethrin just before the blossoms open and, if necessary, again after all the blossoms have fallen.
