I have a black looking dust or fungus on the leaves of my Thompson Seedless Grape leaves. What should I do?

I wonder if the coating is sooty mold? If so it indicates there are insects feeding on your grapevines. Aphids and other sucking insects excrete a sticky substance called honeydew that ages into a black coating on the surface of the leaves below where they are feeding. Check your plant over carefully. If you control the insects, the sooty mold will weather away all on its own.
