PLEASE TELL ME (I won't ask you to swear to it) what the possible survival rate is for
bamboo trees in a large wooden box on a terrace, 16th floor, NYC, facing west with south & north exposure. Unobstructed light and sunshine.
Thanks/carol

As long as you don't hold me personnaly responsible if your bamboo dies over the winter months, I'll stick my neck out and recommend the hardiest bamboo I know: Hardy Bamboo Fargesia rufa 'Green Panda'. It will grow in the ground in NY but the challenge you'll face is keeping the roots from freezing solid in your outdoor containers. You can try insulating the containers before your first frost. Hope this works!
