The Green Pages: Santa Rosa Gardens (E-Commerce Companies)

Santa Rosa sent me wonderful boxes of perennials at least once a year for many years, most recently June of 2020. Their website was nearly bare of plants at the end of December, and I got worried. Now their website has changed to offer plant boxes (special gifts and subscriptions), so I emailed them to see what was going on. I just got this reply:

"Santa Rosa Gardens has enjoyed providing plants to homeowners all over the US via our online nursery, but we have made the decision to no longer offer mail-order perennials. We will be focused exclusively on growing houseplants, succulents, and specialty plants for our family of subscription plant boxes: My Garden Box, The Plant Club, and Succulents Monthly. We hope to continue sharing our love of plants with our Santa Rosa Gardens family through our plant subscription boxes. We wish you success with another potted plant provider and a wonderful upcoming growing season."

I will sure miss their big boxes of perennials! I'm sure their new boxes are expertly packed and contain the quality of plants we're used to seeing from them. The quick response to my inquiry suggests that their great customer service continues. Wishing them all the best in their new direction!

These people are without a doubt the best at what they do. Outstanding plants, and the very best packing I have ever seen. This was my first order, but it will not be my last. Can not recommend them enough.

After seeing people's comments about this vendor in the not a raffle raffle, I decided to place an order. I ordered during the summer sale and most of what I ordered was on sale so prices were great. I was promptly sent a confirmation email then a shipping email with tracking info. Shipping was very reasonable and they arrived well packed and labeled. I highly recommend Santa Rosa Gardens and will order from them again!

Santa Rosa is at the top of my list for quality and reliably healthy perennials. These folks take pride in their packaging. Their plants never fail to take off, growing rapidly for me. I purchased fall blooming Asters for a neighbor, Heucheras, Salvias, Lavenders for myself along with a couple dozen other plants. Their prices are excellent, too. AAAAA+++++

Wow. Santa Rosa is the best. The way they package their plants is amazing. The plants are small but they grow well and the Santa Rosa sales are awesome! I've ordered from them a few times now and plan to put in orders at least once a year. Great folks. Recommend!

I have ordered from this company more than once and am always impressed by their attention to quality and detail. Beautiful plants, much larger than most, with deep roots. I only lost some that seem to have been labeled for the wrong hardiness zone. When I asked Jude for a refund, she gave it to me even though her policy had just changed that year regarding refunds for plants lost after planting.

I enjoy every interaction with this nursery, including their helpful gardening emails.

Santa Rosa Gardens has some of the best selection of Agastache around! Over 23 varieties to choose from. Plants come well packed with a great root system.

I love the plants I got from here!! All are healthy and a nice size for the price. Customer service is great, and you can't beat the discounts we get in emails. I will be ordering again before spring hits. :~)

I am so elated with the receipt of my first order (not-a-raffle raffle win) that you may rest assured the next time I want perennials or grasses there will be absolutely no hesitation as to the vendor... Santa Rosa wins, hands down!

I highly recommend Santa Rosa. I have placed 4 orders with them in the past year and they have a great selection, reasonable prices (fall blow-out sale prices are great), superb packaging, and customer service that simply cannot be beaten.

I bought Blue Yonder Agapanthus (hardy in my zone) a short time ago, and one came through shipping so bad, I did not think it would make it. Received on Friday. Called Monday and they said replacement would go out shortly. On Friday I had not one, but two plants! I have never seen comparable service anywhere else, and I do a lot of business on the Net.

Last year when I placed my first order with them, one plant bit the dust in less than 3 days. Called and they gave me a refund. No further questions asked, no send back plant, no copies of receipts etc, etc, etc.

I WILL buy from them again and suggest that you give them a look see.

I won a gift certificate from ATP for Santa Rosa Gardens in March.
Their selection of plants is extensive and diverse, and this made it a bit hard to choose.
All plants arrived on schedule as they had informed me of the date . All plants were in great shape, were packed well, and are currently doing well in my garden.
Great communication and information from Santa Rosa.
From my experience, I would give this company my highest recommendation.

All of them did well besides Scent First Coral Reef, so I emailed Santa Rosa Gardens and the customer service was going to send me another onem but they found out they had run out of that stock, and I was able to choose another one, which was called Pop Star. I would definitely recommend them because they were quick in responding to my e-mail and provided great customer service. I even offered to take a picture of the dianthus Scent First Coral Reef, but the customer service agent said I didn't have to.

First order from them arrived June 26, 2014, well packaged, healthy plants. Will buy from them again. I don't know how they sent 18 plants plus a bonus plant for $5.00 shipping. Makes me want to know why others charge so much for shipping.

I've ordered from Santa Rosa Gardens several times. The plants are small, come in their pots, and are very securely covered with netting. All plants arrived in very good shape and transitioned & grew well. I ordered two times during their Summer Sale, which is usually in June. Sale prices were good, shipping prices were very reasonable, and all plants arrived within 2 weeks of ordering. I was very pleased with everything! Excellent on-line nursery to order from!

I received my 2nd order from Santa Rosa Gardens today. Every plant was packed well and arrived in great condition. I was amazed at the size of the plants for the price -- better than anything I've found locally or at other on-line nurseries. What I really appreciate is their $5.00 flat shipping rate. I ordered on the weekend, and had my plants by Thursday. Awesome service.

I don't often order plants through the mail. I'd much rather go pick them out myself from local nurseries. But, having won a not-a-raffle here on ATP, and given Santa Rosa's generous gift prize, I ordered through them. They promptly acknowledged my order and told me when it would ship (about a month away from ordering, to coincide with the best time to plant in my area). The plants arrived when promised, in excellent condition, and well packed. This was the only order I've ever placed with this company. Positive experience, but limited to one order.

I have made quite a few purchases from this company and have never been disappointed with all my new plants from them, and yes, they do come packaged with extreme care. I am always excited when I get my orders because I know they will be in good shape, plus they all have good root systems and are healthy. And, if you have a problem, they are most friendly every time you call. I recommend this company if you don't mind plants that are small but not too small. I will definitely order from them again.

My first stop when looking for perennials. Most come in 4" pots and absolutely explode into growth when they hit the garden. Shipping costs are low - a flat rate of $7.99 regardless of the number of plants ordered. Each plant is individually sleeved in a white knit stocking and then wrapped in double layers of brown paper, ensuring that the plants travel safely to their destination. Shipping from Florida to California takes 3 to 4 days and they always look fresh when opened.

Customer service is top-notch. Always patient with me, Jude has responded quickly whenever there has been a question or possible issue. The one time that the plants did not travel well (one box was partially crushed, delivered to a neighbor's hillside driveway, and left in full sun on a hundred-degree day), I was offered an immediate refund on the plants that had collapsed. I declined the immediate refund and, due to the healthy root structures, the plants rebounded within 2 weeks time.

I always keep an eye out for their sales in the late spring and late autumn when most plants are listed for $1.99 to $2.99. These are not seconds but the same quality offered year-round. In addition, they always offer a "bargain bench" where you can purchase plants that may be overstocked, in smaller pots, need re-potting, etc., at greatly reduced prices - frequently a savings of $10 or more. Quite the steal!

This company has so many attributes!! Several times during the year they have from 25 to 50% discounts!! The size and health of their plants are truly top notch. I always save their packaging (the whole plant....pot and growth.. is tucked into a soft stretch knit fabric so that everything stays just the way it was packed) because I use it to send my plants out when necessary.

Their discounted combination specials, although there is no choice by the buyer, turn out to be a dozen or more top quality plants for about half the price they would be individually. This option is available all year.

Love this company for the quality of the plants, the fantastic service, and the very low shipping charges!

I've ordered from this company at least 3 times and have always been happy! The plants are packed very, very well for shipping, and it was fast shipping from FL to KY!

Love the discounts that are offered a lot during the year. The pots may be small and that's ok, because if I can't plant them right away, then I pot them up in a larger pot until I can, and I have not lost a single one!

A very nice variety of plants! I've ordered Agastaches, Penstemons, Phlox, Echineceas, Salvias, and some others.

I agree with the above posts. Santa Rosa Gardens is a great source for plants. I have ordered from them quite a few times and have received nice healthy plants every time, delivered on time per my specified requests. Plants arrived healthy, moist, and well-packaged.

Also, after you become an established customer, Santa Rosa emails frequent sales and significant discount offers. Shipping cost is very reasonable at $7.99 flat rate.

A+ company!

11/2013: I placed my first order with Santa Rosa Gardens on November 6th and my package arrived on November 8th. That's what I call fast shipping! I was extremely happy with the ease of ordering, great customer service ... and most importantly, the healthy plants that arrived! I've ordered plants on line a few times over the past five or six years and Santa Rosa's packing is the best I've ever seen. I will definitely be ordering from them again in the spring!

Got my first order. Loved the Early Bird discount. Healthy plants were still moist. Good packing also.
Company did send email when shipped and they did arrive two days later. Also good planting instructions.
Second order: Could not resist the bargain bench. Great plants and customer service.
Third order: Had to get 5 more Echinaceas! Smooth transaction, fast shipping, great packing, big healthy plants. I love this website. They never disappoint me!
I look forward to doing more business in the future and would highly recommend them. :)
