I recently ordered some special Sempervivums from them. The order was shipped promptly and they all arrived in fine shape. Once they are all planted up I'll be ordering more from them. They have a nice range of plants.

I have ordered twice from Young's Garden on the recommendation of others. I had ordered from another succulent nursery and received (I thought) excellent service. I was amazed when the order arrived from Young's, everything neatly packaged and well labelled -- with at least two to three times more of the size and/or number of plants in each small paper bag than I had received from the previous nursery.

Of course the "mystery" surprise plant they put in is a plus. Perhaps if they can keep up this level of customer service they will grow enough to think they can also accept regular credit card payment in addition to PayPal. That is a leap small companies are sometimes reluctant to take since it definitely adds to their bottom-line operating expenses. But it also means more people can order without joining PayPal. It's a catch 22: People don't want to join PayPal for the same reason small companies don't want to accept regular credit card payments: all of it is giving in to the big business culture around us we'd like to avoid...

Whether or not they take that leap, I will definitely use Young's Garden and recommend it to others. Here are my latest Young's acquisitions, newly unpacked and planted:

Young's garden has a really pretty website. All the plants look great on there, so when I ordered, I thought, "Well, those are professional photos and the cream of their crop plants, so the ones I get probably won't be as nice."
I was very pleasantly surprised! The plants were beautiful, healthy looking, and appeared to have been carefully packaged.
Plus they send a freebie plant, usually a different cultivar but of the same species as something you've ordered. This was great for me because I was able to see a plant that I hadn't considered, and it's lovely! It's my current "avatar photo"! Thumb of 2013-02-15/gg5/af2a40
I will definitely shop at Young's again, and gladly refer friends!

They have great plants and are generous with what they send. Plants arrived in wonderful condition and took off growing quickly. Here is sempervivum 'Highland Mist,' which I received from them last year.

I ordered Sempervivum plants from them, received a very generous amount of each plant (at least 3), and they were all packaged very nicely and correctly labeled. Plants were shipped very quickly after I placed my order and the nice folks quickly answered some email questions I had about the plants. I will definitely order from them again!!!

I have purchased plants from Young's Garden center for two years now. Have always been very happy with plants received and with the packaging and shipping. I will definitely order from them again.
Here is one I purchased last summer (2011), S. 'Tree Beard.' It is an outstanding sempervivum.

I asked our own succulent enthusiasts for their recommendations on mail order nurseries from which to order, and Young's Garden came highly recommended. I was pleased to be able to see for myself why they have earned their reputation.
Young's Garden is a family owned business located in Oregon. They are a full fledged retail nursery, and have quite a selection at their brick and mortar store. Online, they carry pond plants, deer resistant plants, and what we came for: succulents.

My order was for 2 semps, 2 sedums, and 2 tender succulents. I wanted to get a real good feel for a cross section of the kinds of plants they offer. My order was placed and shipped out via USPS within a few days. I received my tracking number, and waited with bated breath. Unfortunately, the USPS was not kind to my package. The day of delivery came and went, as did the next day, and the day after. There was no update to the status on USPS's site, so I became a little concerned and emailed Young's. The owner promptly responded that they would ship out another box, but I volunteered to wait it out another day or so and see what happens. The next day, a very damaged box showed up in my mailbox.

This was my first clue that Young's has been around the mail order industry for awhile. Despite the fact that the box was damaged, and that the package was very overdue, the plants were in great shape, and not dried out or damaged!

The sedums were clearly grown in a 4" pot full of roots before being shipped. There was a hand-written paper inside each bag stating the cultivar.

Each Sempervivum had a great root system, a larger mother plant, and 2 small (but not tiny) pups. The plants came bare-root in separate, labeled paper bags.

Like the sedums, the tender succulants were obviously grown in pots. The roots were wrapped in paper towels, which is probably what saved them when the package wasn't delivered on time.

I was impressed with Young's  Garden, and give my 2 green thumbs up. They clearly know their plants, and they have great customer service. The price and selection is on par with their competitors, and their website is easy to navigate.

You might as well jump in with the rest of us who have become obsessed with these little beauties! If you can't decide what to order, just grab their assortment to get you started.

Disclaimer: I was not paid for this review, but the company did provide me with the products I am reviewing. All opinions are my own honest impressions.
