I have tried everything organically (or so I thought) to get rid of the dreaded Red Lily Beetle. I have used chemicals in the past that have worked fine but left me with a guilty conscience. What am I harming?

I knew the bees would be harmed, hummers, beneficial insects, and the list goes on. This year I didn't spray anything, and I waited for the red devils to appear as soon as the lily poked through the soil. The lilies are now up approx. 3-5" and I have not seen one lily beetle!! What have I done differently THIS year vs. any other year???

As I am inspecting the new growth and pondering this question, I see Trixie, one of my hens, snatch a spider off a plant. Light bulb goes on: I NOW have free range chickens and they have cleaned my garden of the red devils!!!! Why did I not think of this before?? Smiling
