South Burlington (January 27, 2006) The National Gardening Association (NGA) is pleased to announce that Rebecca Kolls, host of Rebecca's Garden is one of the spokespeople for National Garden Month® 2006, celebrated nationally during the month of April. Rebecca will be on location to celebrate NYC GROWS - the first all-day garden festival co-presented by the National Gardening Association and the New York City Parks and Recreation Department - in Union Square Park, New York City on April 29th, 2006.
"I am pleased to be able to join in the festivities of NYC Grows, which is sure to be a highlight event of National Garden Month 2006," says Rebecca. "Now is the time to add a little bit of joy back into life in a way we may have put aside because of busy schedules. There are simple ways to do that and I'll be in Union Square showing folks how easy it is (just as I remind them each week on my show), to "Keep those hands dirty!"Mike Metallo, president of NGA, says that "NYC Grows will be a festival filled with opportunities as it culminates a week filled with activities throughout the five boroughs of New York City to celebrate National Garden Month® 2006. The festival will feature interactive activities for everyone, and we invite everyone to bring family and friends for fun, informal education, and to find out how they can participate in one of many forms of gardening where they live. NYC Grows is also an opportunity to showcase the greening that is going on in New York City every day, all year and to present to the nation a different look at New York City through the eyes of community and public gardens."
Groups participating in NYC Grows with interactive activities and demonstrations include the following:
