Hummingbird Houses

For many years gardeners have grown plants and set up feeders in their yards to lure colorful hummingbirds to their property. There's something magical about these tiny birds flitting from flower to flower.

To encourage more hummingbirds in your yard this summer, why not set up a hummingbird house? Dan True of Clovis, New Mexico, is a nature photographer who has been fascinated with hummingbirds for years. After observing their behavior, he's designed a 'house' that meets the requirements of a would-be hummingbird mom. The key is protecting the nest and chicks from sun, wind, rain, and predators. His hummingbird house provides an anchoring place for the nest, a perching spot for the mother bird, starter nesting material, a protective roof, mounting screws, and instructions for installing it in the best location.
