South Burlington, VT (April 10, 2006) - The National Gardening Association (NGA) is pleased to announce Con Edison as a sponsor of the NYC Grows Garden Festival in Union Square Park, New York City, on April 29. The Garden Festival is the culmination of NGA's National Garden Month? 2006 celebration and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ten days of "green" NYC GROWS citywide events will precede the festival.
"The NYC Grows Garden Festival will focus on different gardening themes, such as environmental stewardship, health and wellness, community development, home gardening, and plant-based education," explains Mike Metallo, president of NGA. "We are pleased to have Con Edison on board to promote environmentally conscious energy choices."
"Con Edison salutes the NYC Grows Garden Festival for its ingenuity and joins with the NGA to support the further greening of New York City Parks," said Frances A. Resheske, Con Edison senior vice president for public affairs.
Con Edison representatives will staff a table at this family-friendly festival and will be giving away, among other goodies, comic books featuring energy efficiency and safety. They will also be available to answer questions about "Green Power" and the "Power Your Way" program, which gives consumers the ability to choose their energy supplier.
