South Burlington, VT (January 26, 2007) - The National Gardening Association (NGA) is pleased to announce that Ames True Temper is making a generous donation to National Gardening Association's Adopt a School Garden Program as its way of honoring National Garden Month? 2007. During April 2007, NGA reminds everyone, "When we garden, we grow," and Ames True Temper is stepping up to the plate.
"NGA is grateful to have the support of Ames True Temper," says Mike Metallo, NGA President. "It's great that the company believes in corporate responsibility, and is walking the talk by taking action to help NGA in its goal to get gardens into every school."
"Ames True Temper is excited to sponsor National Garden Month for the second year," says Rich Dell, Ames True Temper Chief Executive Officer. "We support NGA's goal to create a garden in every school. When kids garden, kids grow - especially in urban areas, where it is essential to help children make the connection with nature, thereby encouraging a healthy lifestyle for the rest of their lives. That is why we have chosen to assist a space-challenged elementary school in New York City in the creation a rooftop school garden. To kick-start the program, we are providing a professional classroom greenhouse and a professional tool shed filled with adult-sized and child-sized tools so everyone can participate."
Victoria Street-Sando, a PTA parent volunteer at P.S. 41 in Greenwich Village, is delighted with the Adopt a School Garden program and thrilled about the generosity of Ames True Temper. "This donation of the classroom greenhouse and tool shed will give all of our students - now and for years to come - the opportunity to fully explore the joy of gardening in an urban setting."
