lauribob's Plant List

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

Thumb Plant Status Notes Events
Image Bugbane (Actaea simplex 'Henry's Selection')
Have
Front
This is not a recognized cultivar. I can't remember where I bought it, maybe the nursery in Brewster that closed.
Image Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Bird on a Wire')
Have
Knick Knack
This yellow one was seeded by the birds on the powerline, near as I can tell. I didn't plant it. I need to move it - it's right behind another yellow one.
Image Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Nearly Black'
Prev
Dead Zone
This was in the KK garden. It was stunning, but disappeared one year after it was well established. 'Bird on a Wire' is there now in the exact same place. It's sort of a mystery to me.
Image Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Victoria Red')
Have
Crabapple
Not a registered cultivar. It's a nice, kind of dusty red.
Image Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Wine Red')
Have
Knick Knack
Veggie Garden Perennials
Z5
This a robust unregistered daylily - I've divided it many times and given it away. Originally planted by the back porch, it's also under the kitchen window, on the west side of the grinder side of the KK garden, and under the black elderberry outside the veggie garden. The original one needs to be divided again.
Image Hosta (Hosta 'Over the Moon')
Have
Crabapple
NOID. Made up name. I thought it was August Moon, but it isn't. Might be Elegans. See what color the blooms are and try to narrow it down. I think I got it from Gilbert Wild.
Image Lilac (Syringa Vulgaris 'Jody's White')
Have
Corner
This is one that I got from Jody way back when she lived in Omak. It took years to bloom and it's white. Very fragrant.
Image Lily (Lillium 'Red')
Have
Knick Knack
This is a seedling from either Cancun or Barcelona. Bloomed in '18
Image Peony (Paeonia 'Miss Emily')
Have
Aspen
Made up name - I think it's likely 'Mme. Emile Debatene'. One of several that Becker gave me. I really like this one. I should probably move it to a location that gets more sun.
Image Peony (Paeonia 'NOID Aspen')
Have
Aspen
This is a tiny one at the top of the bank that was probably started by a seed from a bird on the power line above. It has never bloomed, and has been tiny forever.
Image Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Antique Purple')
Have
Here & There
NOID. Made up name
Out in the pasture. This is one of my favorites - I've always loved the "old lace" types for some reason.
Image Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Dark Falls')
Have
Front Bank
Here & There
Knick Knack
NOID. Made up name
Front Bank - by the plum tree (#1)
H&T - Out in the pasture, moved from Front (#2), before it got moved from the Front (#3)
KK - I dug most of these up and moved them to the pasture. There are still some behind the obelisk. (#4)
Image Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Spill the Wine')
Have
Aspen
NOID. This is a made up name. At the top of the bank in the Aspen Garden.
Image Vans Poplar (Popululus 'Vans')
Have
Here & There
At the corner of Larry's fence on the driveway. I bought this several years after we planted the 2 big poplars. It has grown much slower and has no cotton.
Autumn color Paperbark Maple (Acer griseum)
Prev
Dead Zone
I planted one of these out in the pasture a long time ago. It lived for about 2 years before succumbing to deer damage. It was not fenced. It started to come back from the root stock, but that didn't last long either.
Full Moon Maple (Acer japonicum 'Maiku Jaku')
Prev
Dead Zone
I planted one of these in the lower yard in 2008, where the raspberries were before we moved them into the veggie garden. It made it a year or two and then just woke up dead in the spring. It was really pretty while it lasted. I have not had much luck down there with trees, other than aspen. They probably get root rot in the spring during high water.
Image Ash-Leaved Maple (Acer negundo 'Flamingo')
Have
Here & There
Back yard.

Image Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum 'Kurabu Yama')

Back yard.

2016 One of the main branches died. Sun/wind damage? Bark was cracked and split.
2017 I pruned this in late June after looking on the internet for advice. I went with "Winter dormancy is the best time, but if you think it needs pruning, do it now. Otherwise you will never do it."
Image Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum var. amoenum 'Green Star')

2019: Didn't make it through the winter this year.
Image Norway Maple (Acer platanoides)
Have
Here & There
Along the fence in the pasture.
Identified due to milky sap. Would love to figure out cultivar.
From Denese's mom
