lauribob's Plant List

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

Plant Status Notes Events
Garden Onion (Allium cepa 'Red River F1')
Have
Vegetables
2019 - small starts this year
Garden Onion (Allium cepa 'Walla Walla Sweet')
Have
Vegetables
We do these every year - so delicious in salsa and used fresh while they last. They don't keep well at all.
2019: All the onion starts were smaller this year, but they are doing well.
Broccoli (Brassica oleracea 'Gypsy')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree. 57 days. Hybrid
I think I've given up on broccoli. It doesn't do well for me most years and I'd rather grow something else that does. There was one year that these produced really well, but I can't remember the weather conditions that year.
Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata 'Red Express')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree. 60 days. Open pollinated.
2019. Tried to start in the GH. I only ended up with 1 seedling, but did have decent germination. The one looks real healthy and is right there with the store bought starts. I think I should maybe just direct seed into the garden next year and see how that goes.
Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Golden Calwonder')
Have
Vegetables
Totally Tomatoes. 72 Days. OP
2018: Bought starts. These were great in a year when the bell peppers were meh. The biggest, the most, the thickest walls. Get them again.
Jalapeno Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Goliath')
Have
Vegetables
Totally Tomatoes. 65-68 days. Hybrid
2018 bought starts. I have to remember to get seeds for these - I like them better than the regular jalapeƱos. They are much larger and produce really well for us. They taste good when green or red, and are a good size for poppers.
Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Iko Iko')
Have
Vegetables
65 days. OP
2018: Purchased start. Most of my bells didn't do very well this year for some reason. This one produced a number of smallish purple peppers . They were thin-walled and somewhat contorted. Maybe the smoke all summer made it not sunny enough? These should have ripened to red or orange.
Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Jalafuego')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree. 70 days. Hybrid
I've grown these for several years now. I prefer the larger size of these as well as the little bit more heat they give you.
Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'King of the North')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree. 60 days Green, 70-80 Red. OP
2019: I've got one plant from 2018 seed.
Anaheim Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Numex Big Jim')
Have
Vegetables
Totally Tomatoes. 75-80 days. OP
2018 We had one plant of these - a purchased start. We lost the tags and didn't know what it was until I found the map after we had picked everything. We put them in our salsa. Supposed to get really big and be perfect for chile rellenos. I think I'll try them again from seed.
Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Orange Sun')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree. 81 days. OP
I've had pretty good luck with these in the past - one of the bigger, thicker walled ones for me. Nice yellow to orange colors.
2019: Planted some seed from 2018. They came up, but damped off. No plants.
Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Romanian Sweet')
Have
Vegetables
Strictly Medicinal. 80 days. Heirloom.
2019. I'm trying these this year for sweet peppers since my bells are hit and miss. Yellow to orange large sweet pepper with thick walls. We'll see...
Hot Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Tiburon')
Have
Vegetables
Park, Johnny's, Jung. 65 days. Hybrid.
2018. We bought starts. These were really good for chile rellenos. Thick walled and tasty.
Serrano Pepper (Capsicum anuum 'Hot Rod')
Have
Vegetables
Johnny's. 57 days green, 77 days red. Hybrid
2018: From purchased start. Did OK.
Hot Pepper (Capsicum anuum 'Red Hot Cherry')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree, SeedsNow. 77 days. Heirloom
2018. I planted one plant this year and it produced enough attractive red cherry peppers to pickle up in 2 pint jars. I just did them in the frig instead of canning. Greg thinks they're too sweet. I like them.
Hot Pepper (Capsicum baccatum 'Criolla Sella')
Have
Vegetables
Strictly Medicinal. 80-100 days. OP
2019: These sounded interesting - small yellow to orange peppers, not too hot, citrusy flavor.
Chile Pepper (Capsicum frutescens 'Tabasco')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree, Totally Tomatoes. 80 Days. Heirloom.
2018: We grew at least 6 of these plants from starts this year. The peppers were tiny and much later than the other peppers. Our total harvest of these, we mixed with enough habaneros & jalapeƱos to make up half a recipe of hot sauce - less than 2 full bottles. It's HOT! Greg likes it, it's a bit much for me so far.
Habanero (Capsicum sinense 'Hot Paper Lantern')
Have
Vegetables
Strictly Medicinal Seeds. 80 days. OP
We got these as starts 2018. They produced really well for us and the peppers were larger than the ones we grew last year. Really tasty hot sauce from these.
Habanero (Capsicum sinense 'Magnum')
Have
Vegetables
80 Days green. 100 days ripe.
2018: Got a start or two. These didn't produce as well as the Paper Lantern variety.
Cantaloupe (Cucumis melo 'Green Nutmeg')
Have
Vegetables
Pinetree. 80 days. Heirloom
2017 - Couldn't get seeds. Maybe start saving seed?
2018 I got a few going in a bad seed year. I don't know if we waited too long to pick them or what, but they were kind of mushy and bland this year. These used to be my very favorites!
2019 No seeds at PT. I got a couple going with old seed. Started them later in the GH this year. Perfect. If they're good this year, save some seed. It's getting hard to find.
