'Nachoochee Princess' - white with tinge of pink Made in Shade series ‘Nacoochee Princess’, which is a R. atlanticum x R. periclymenoides hybrid, has large, white fragrant flowers with a slight tint of pink. This hybrid will grow from 8 to 10 feet tall. 'Nacoochee Princess' derives from controlled hybridization between R. atlanticum (coastal azalea) and R. periclymenoides (pinxterbloom azalea), and is one of the offspring of the so-called "Choptank hybrids," themselves named due to their occurrence as natural hybrids along the Choptank River of the eastern shore region of Maryland. purchased May 2021, Co op moved this spring to more sun. Will have a very small crop, just started picking this week. Good looking new canes! Also, a piece of root in the previous location has spouted. Bonus! 2023- started the year with cane borer evident but to prune them all would have taken almost the whole bush. Got a fair number of berries anyway, and big new canes. Big berries but mostly tart. Froze one sandwich tub. 2024= Horrible year in garden for edibles, including this. No sign of cane borers, plant seemed healthy, but almost zero good berries. |

First year. From seed. Plants are big and healthy. Many fruit in large clusters. Gradually ripening since about July 1. Good flavor. Average skin. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch, .75 to one ounce. worth trying but I don't like trying to keep the little ones picked and trying to decide if they are ripe |
