Garden Tour - Dutchlady1
I don't have a Garden; I have a third of an acre in an older part of Naples, Florida, which holds a house, a pool, and hundreds of plants, mostly Plumeria. After they first were stashed haphazardly here and there, wherever there was a space, I am slowly pulling it all together into a more coherent whole. As every gardener knows - this is a work in progress! (527 words - Read the full article)

A nursery label tip
Most of the labels received with a new plant get lost or broken. When I purchase a plant that has its own label with all that valuable information (the plant’s real name), I either scan (as a .jpg) or take a photo of both sides of the label. Rename the scan/photo file using the plant’s name (catmint1 for the front of the label, catmint2 for the back). You can take it one step further by photographing the plant and renaming that file also (catmint3). I have created a folder on my pc for “gardening”, and I added under that a folder for “tags”. This way all of the files named catmint are in order when I am looking through my tags and photos.

A sun tip
|How much sun is enough? Full sun: at least 6 hours of sun per day. Partial sun/shade: 3-6 hours of sun per day. Dappled sun: receives sun through branches. Full shade: less than 3 hours of sun per day.

A quick trade tip
Thrifty tip: Everyone has a few plants that multiply like crazy. Get together with your neighbors to swap for their surplus, or offer them in trade on your local freecycle or craigslist forums.
