A Wildflowers and Pollinators Not-a-Raffle Raffle

Posted by @dave on
It's raffle time again! Get those acorns out and grab some tickets!

There are going to be 3 winners here and each winner (in order) gets to take their pick of which prize they want. So, what are the prizes? Well, here they are, in no particular order:

Prize #1: Margaret (@Mindy03) is providing a one pound jar of honey!! How fun, and how special, is that!?!

Prize #2: Offered by Christine (@wildflowers) is the book Attracting Native Pollinators, published by the Xerces Society. The book is divided into the following four detailed sections:

  • Pollinators and Pollination explains the value of pollinators, and includes informative chapters on the natural history and habitat needs of bees, butterflies, flies, beetles, and wasps.
  • Taking Action provides comprehensive information on ways to help pollinators and on creating nest sites and safe foraging areas. It includes guidance on conserving pollinators in all kinds of landscapes: gardens, natural areas, farms, recreation land, even ecoroofs.
  • Bees of North America provides help with identifying the more abundant and important bee species, and supplies detailed profiles of more than thirty commonly encountered genera.
  • Creating a Pollinator-Friendly Landscape shows how various kinds of land, including urban gardens, suburban parks, and farms, can be enhanced to support diverse pollinator populations. Sample planting designs and fifty pages of illustrated plant lists facilitate selection of the best plants for any region.

Prize #3 is a $50 gift certificate to Sunlight GardensSunlight Gardens is a small family business located in the fertile green hills of east Tennessee. Since 1983, they have been propagating and growing plants native or naturalized to the eastern United States for mail order, retail, and wholesale customers. Check out their web site to find the best plants for you, and read tips on how to make your garden really shine.

I will also offer a 4th and 5th place runner up prize of 50 acorns each. :)
