The Q&A Archives: red azalea

Questioner's Location: Berkeley, NJ

Question: When is a good time of year to prune a red azalea bush?

Answer: For best flower display, azaleas should be pruned in late spring, just as the flowers are beginning to drop. If you prune in the summer or fall, after the plant has developed flower buds, you'll be pruning off next spring's flower display.
