The Q&A Archives: Problem with lantana

Questioner's Location: Madison, Fl
Date: September 26, 2008

Question: What can you do to lantanas that quit blooming. I've think I've put something on them in past years, but have forgotten what.

Answer: Cissy,
Lantanas tend to go through blooming and not blooming cycles during the growing season; some more so than others. If the variety sets fruit it will tend to not rebloom as well as if it does not. A lack of sunlight or damage from pests that suck the green juices from the leaves can leave plants weaker and less productive. Maintain moderate soil moisture and fertilize the plants every 4-6 weeks if they seem to be lacking vigor to encourage growth and best bloom production.
