The Q&A Archives: Digging up bushes

Questioner's Location: Denver, Co
Date: May 3, 2009

Question: I live in a townhome and have two dead bushes in the patio. How do I dig them up?

Answer: Most of the roots will be centered directly beneath the shrub so start by digging a shallow trench all around the shrub and then digging down and toward the center. You should be able to uproot the entire rootmass by prying beneath it in all directions. Best wishes with your project!
