When we think of bees, we usually think of the honeybee-but there are more than 3500 native species of bees in the United States, most of whom play the role of pollinator. As the population of honeybees declines because of disease and mite infestation, these native pollinators will play an increasingly important role in the pollination of both cultivated and wild plants.
