Caption: In 2013 it started blooming in late March and is in full bloom the 2nd week of October. A great plant for those early hummingbird visitors. A migrating Rufous found this plant by March 30th.

Caption: I didn't find any of these in full bloom today but did find some with a few flowers. This small shrub, I've seen them about 2' to 3' tall and wide, is quite beautiful when in full bloom; a solid mass of light pink.

Caption: A small plant, usually under a foot tall. In my area this wildflower blooms after the summer monsoon rains. This specimen was growng with some Bush Muhly, Muhlenbergia porteri, the very pink grass you can see in this picture.

Caption: Here, growing in the wild in part shade. Although listed as a plant that needs full sun I find the prettiest are growing where they get some relief from the New Mexico sun.
