I have come to believe that it is mis-identified. The blooms on it are consistently doubles and all historical records, and the APS registry, list Lord Kitchener as a single or a semi-double. Either all four specimens in the Upjohn PG are anomalous, or they are mis-identified. If not Lord Kitchener, then I do not know what they are. I'd feel more comfortable have this and all of my other photos of the putative 'Lord Kitchener' removed. |

A recent detailed review of this and companion photos taken of plants in the same bed, on the same date, lead me to believe that this is a photo of neighboring plants (an unknown cultivar), and not Madame Ducel. There is now sufficient doubt in my own mind about my identification of this photo, that I'd feel happier seeing this photo removed from the NGA database. My ID's of the other photos of Madame Ducel seem OK. |
