Youngia japonica is a clump forming annual with a short taproot. Leaves grow to 6 inches in length and appear on an erect flower stalk of about 12 inches in height, bearing many individual small yellow flower heads. . Asiatic False Hawksbeard is a common nuisance weed that has naturalized here in Florida; a perennial that is found year round in lawns, nursery containers, flower beds and disturbed sites.

This weed is found everywhere in Florida; we often find it sprouting in our lawn and flowerbeds but they have a short tap-root and are fairly easy to pull up.
