I currently have 4 of these plants growing in EarthBoxes. They are currently 5 feet tall and absolutely loaded with developing fruit and blossoms. One plant has at least 10 beautiful fruits developing! this is the lassie eggplant used for parmigiana. I love all types of eggplant, but this is the one my grandfather always grew.

I decided to grow Black Beauty this year to compare it to Classic, which I grew last year and this year also. Both produce the standard-looking, deep-purple eggplant fruits one would be used to finding at the supermarket.
I could not taste any difference between the two varieties. They tasted exactly the same to me. I would say Black Beauty is less productive. I picked fewer fruits from those plants.

75 - OP - Dark purple - Best in warmer areas of South and West. Imperial strain has larger fruits.

The standard for the American type oval eggplant. Productive, but not the best flavored fruit. Quite large, both plant and fruit.
