Shrubby ice plant with small, succulent leaves and large, swollen roots that are typically raised for display after some years. The characteristic bottom-heavy look of bonsai plants is due to a previous life in a larger container or the ground, where the roots were allowed to grow big. Flowers tend to be a dull rose pink, but a number of other colors are possible.
From South Africa and Namibia. Not common in cultivation. Old specimens can be spectacular. Amenable to pruning.
