Solitary, stemless highland aloe from East Africa with branched inflorescences and red, orange or yellow flowers in dense capitate racemes. Plants may occasionally offset. Leaves are gray-green with reddish margins and teeth. Flowers appear in late winter and are variable in color. This species is found in Ethiopia and Eritrea and is similar to A. sinkatana (narrower leaves with spots, shorter inflorescences with shorter flowers). The buds on both plants point downward.
