I have been buying seedlings of this variety each spring from my local nursery to plant and grow now for years. A very tasty large slicing variety that sets a nice amount of fruit. I trellis mine so that the cucumbers grow straight.

As usual, Burpless was the star of the cucumber show again this year. Out of all the varieties I grow or have tried in the past, Burpless always outdoes all the others. Larger cucumbers than any others that taste mild and sweet even picked at the larger sizes. Always plenty of production, plus the disease resistance is the best of any variety that I have grown in my garden.

I'm growing four different kinds of cukes this year and Burpless seems to have the best yield. They taste ok, nothing special. I never seem to burp when eating any kinds of cucumbers so I can't speak to their reputed eponymous quality. (Edited in 2016: yield went down considerably.)

We supplemented our seed-grown cukes with a couple purchased starts of this variety. They produced well for us and did not get bitter, even when we let them get a bit too big. I would grow these again.
