I purchased this plant in the early 1980's from a friend who had a little family owned nursery. It was a small plant in a 6" pot and I've up-potted and root pruned this plant a few times over the years. At one time I had five or six of the green leaf Weeping Fig trees but they grew so fast and furious that I couldn't keep up with them and ended up giving them away. I love variegated foliage and I kept this one mainly for the foliage, but it also has sentimental value because the friend I purchased it from passed away at a young age. Weeping Figs are temperamental when it comes to location. It seems if I move this plant even a few inches, or rotate it for more light it begins dropping leaves like crazy and I've had the tree go completely bare at times.

Weeping fig, with it's arching "weeping" habit, is a common landscape and street tree in the southern part of Florida. With enough light and water, it makes an attractive houseplant as well.
