I have had this in my garden in Yorkshire, UK (North of England) for several years now. Although it is a strong vigorous grower which produces lots of buds it unfortunately doesn't open well at all for me here despite being described as a good early morning opener and it does not stand up to wet weather well at all (of which we get a lot in Yorkshire!)

Maybe it is just not getting enough sun here, based on my personal experience I would not recommend it for cold, wet climates.

It is going to be removed from my garden as it just never looks good.
