Received a RHS Award of Garden Merit.

A dense tufted perennial grass w/ purpulish flowers late summer and into fall.
Likes full sun and well-drained soil.

I planted this in the driest part of the yard where there are loads of tree roots and the soil is bone dry. It thrives where nothing else will. Also, when the morning dew is on the flowers they sparkle in the sunlight, thus the name 'Diamond Grass.'

Diamond Grass, Calamagrostis brachyathera, is a wonderful small ornamental grass that can be tucked into any 24-inch spot. It prefers a part-sun location, and it is striking when the plumes are lit from behind! Here in zone 6a, it is perfect for our small city perennial gardens!
