"Paeonia 'Sea Shell', (3-SL-PK) lactiflora cultivar Peony, (Sass, 1937), USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Medium height, single, light pink petals, yellow stamens, strong stems, Michigan Bloom Month 6a.

Bred by Hans Peter Sass (1868-1949) who registered ~27 peonies. In 1933 he sold most of his peony stock to The Interstate Nurseries of Hamburg, Iowa who registered another 18 of his peonies in 1937 ('Sea Shell' was in this group and received an APS Gold Medal Award in 1990). Sass also received an Gold metal for Peony 'Elsa Sass' in 1943."
