Description from Sidney's Conger's 1952 catalog of Louisiana Iris, p.5:
CONTRAST. (Bruce-Debaillon, 1943). This excellent breeder is the parent of most of the bitones and bicolors originating today as well as some of the best reds. Though the flowers reach only four inches in width, the interesting combination of red-violet sepals and pale orchid petals is most arresting. 24" to 30". $2.00.
