Description from the 1933 catalog, Royal Iris Gardens (J. C. Nicholls, Jr., Camillus, NY), p.75:
    Other American Species
MISSOURIENSIS—Snow Bird (Collected in Colorado). 16". A pure beautiful white without any veining. Very fine and highly recommended. Although Missouriensis likes plenty of water at blooming time, it can stand being very dry later in the season. All have very dainty and delicate flowers and foliage, M. Snow Bird being the prettiest and rarest.
