Hydrangea macrophylla Paraplu 'SMHMP1' (PP25900, 2015) was developed by Timothy D. Wood, (Spring Lake, MI). An open-pollination of Hydrangea macrophylla 'Harbits'. The new cultivar produces large, long-lasting mophead flower heads composed of double florets that range in color from a light to bright rosy pink to near purple. Compact habit. A Proven Winner selection. Does not look like this cultivar blooms on new wood. So, it is probably not all that winter hardy. Appears to have been bred for its flower.
