This is a very good tree overall.
The only issue I've noticed this tree has is that it is EXTREMELY sensitive to root disturbance. I almost killed mine when I removed a chunk of concrete I found a few inches below the surface from the ground about a foot from the base of the tree. It took three years to recover and lost half of its branches.
So as long as you don't mess with its roots, it should do fine in dry places like Utah as long as its basic needs are met.
