This Warren's Red' originated as a branch sport found by Otis Warren & Son Nursery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and purchased and named before 1955 by Simpson Nursery in the area. The original plant in the late 1990's was about 25 feet high by 20 feet wide. This cultivar has lustrous dark green leaves that drop in fall as green about the latest of this species and bears heavy crops of bright glossy red fruits about 5/16th inch in diameter and the fruit is long persistent.
