My earliest blooming lily (first week of May) in 2012, this demure species put on quite an eye-catching show with large scapes of pendent, saturated orange-red blooms. Flowers produced a light, pleasant but unusual fragrance if your nose is in the bloom.

|Australis||On June 11, 2017||Transplanted
Found that the last two seedlings were still alive when emptying out the planter. Replanted the two tiny bulblets in better medium.
|Australis||From October 14, 2016 to April 1, 2017||Plant emerged
Seven different seedlings sent up cotyledons over this timeframe. None ever got beyond that; each died within a few weeks of emerging.
|Australis||On September 4, 2016||Seeds sown
Obtained seeds from NALS seed exchange - seed lot 92-168, donated by Adam Yakabuskie.
