I live in zone 5-4 and I bought this tree in 2008 as a tiny 3' sprout. It's supposed to be a very slow grower, between 6-8" a year. That being said, my tree is over 12', so it's quintupled in size. I've had 2 different professional arborists look at this tree to find out why it's growing so fast, they just said that it's a happy tree. I water it infrequently, hardly ever feed it, it's in clay soil and the only time I ever really look at it is in the winter when it turns bright yellow. They're not too common of a tree, but the brilliant yellow is gorgeous in the winter. It has to get cold (20-0 degs) and stay there for a length of time for it to turn the brilliant yellow.
