Native to the American southwest (S California and western Arizona (Z9). Bulbs often found at great depth in the wild. As such suitable to grow for semi-desert environment or Mediterranean-type garden.
Absolutely intolerant of temperatures below freezing, especially if wet.
These bulbs need no water when dormant; when growing water moderately and carefully (needs good drainage)
