Tradescantia sp. - The leaves and stem are edible: leaves used in a salad, the stems steamed or cooked.
Stems can be used like okra to thicken soups.
The sap from the plant can be used to relieve minor burns.

My third variety of Cow Slobber (my favorite common name for this plant... how about Snotweed? ) I planted the plugs on this date in our prairie-to-be and the leaves are still growing a little. I do not expect them to bloom this year.
