Crimson Pirate was my very first spider daylily. Have had this plant for several years, but finally decided to get rid of it this year. This plant was either really good or did not do much. This year was a year when it did not do much. My main reason for getting rid of this plant is that it just multiplies too fast and needs to be divided too often.

Long-blooming. Very fertile parent for spider breeding. Weatherproof pigments: a very good garden plant. Looks like red velvet in the garden.

Sometimes the old ones are some of the best. A fantastic garden plant. Increases very fast. Tall scapes with TONS of buds.

Crimson Pirate glows! I have never been able to get an accurate picture of the color, and my camera takes very accurate pictures. There is just something special about this one that won't let me capture it the way it looks in person. I actually got this as the wrong plant, and luckily it is very commonly grown, so the ID was easy to get. I like it much better than the one I was purchasing! Can't imagine the garden without it now.

My first Crimson Pirate was planted this spring and bloomed today (June 24, Zone 9a Florida). I haven't given it any special treatment, and I will have to say this daylily is spectacular! It is much prettier in person than any photo I have seen of it. It is a keeper!
