Taylor's Guide to Houseplants
Taylor's Guide to Houseplants (Houghton Mifflin, 1987; $20) has clear, beautiful illustrations and photographs of many common and uncommon houseplants. The information, like that of all Taylor's Guides, is well organized and in a how-to format.

Favorite or New Plant

Favorite Plant: Daylilies
When it comes to a never-fail perennial flower, a clear winner in my garden is the daylily. Daylilies (Hemerocallis) thrive under the most adverse conditions. Their cheerful, trumpet-shaped blossoms are held high above strap-like foliage, bringing cheer to any bed or border.
