Chicago Botanic Garden Celebrations Festival
Come see four displays of Christmas at the Chicago Botanic Garden Celebrations Festival from November 28 to January 4: the splendor of Old England, a contemporary twist, a child's-eye view, and botanical elegance. A streetscape of doorways offers ideas for unique holiday decor, including wreaths and garlands. Events throughout the festival include a "reindog" parade, storytelling, ice sculpting, musical performances, carriage rides through the elegantly lighted gardens, and of course, a visit with Santa.

Wax Plant
Wax plants (Hoya carnosa) are the perfect undemanding houseplants. All they need is bright light (direct sun to produce flowers), infrequent watering, and three summer fertilizings. The waxy leaves are tidy and attractive, especially the variegated types. The white to pale pink flowers with red centers exude a honey-like fragrance at night.
