Sissinghurst's White Garden
On the Web site Sissinghurst, The White Garden, ten photos by Dave Parker provide an introduction to the legendary white garden at Sissinghurst Castle in Kent. The site also has much more information about Sissinghurst, including additional photos, a detailed drawing of the garden, links to articles about the garden, and information on books about the garden or by Vita Sackville-West.

For basic information about visiting Sissinghurst, go to the Sissinghurst Castle Garden Web site of Britain's National Trust.

More on White Gardens
If the allure of a white garden entices you, there are three books on the subject. They are all out-of-print but readily available from used-book sources on the internet. White Garden, by Diana Grenfell and Roger Grounds (Trafalgar Square, 1992; $29.50) and Making a White Garden, by Joan Clifton (Grove Press, 1990; $19.95) are both by British authors. Clifton's book includes plans for different garden settings or themes, such as a walled garden, topiary garden, herbaceous border, water garden, or patio garden.

White: Single Color Plantings for Dramatic Landscapes (Collins Publications, 1995; $15) is part of The Color Garden series by long-time American garden writer Elvin McDonald.
